Faithful Christians are under assault. Radical skeptics have recently targeted non-academic Christians with aggressive marketing for teaching that positions the New Testament as a collection of forgeries that have been hopelessly corrupted, and therefore completely unreliable witnesses to the life and teaching of Jesus.

To answer this threat, CSNTM has produced “Text to Translation: the Story of the New Testament” and “The Canon of the New Testament,” the first two courses in the Biblion Lecture Series. These are designed to engage non-academic audiences with the truth regarding the history and reliability of the New Testament text, while directly refuting the deliberate misinformation advanced by radical skeptics and other enemies of truth.

CSNTM proposes to host larger, in-person events called “The Biblion Conference” in venues around the US. The tone of the conference is intended to be both educational and celebratory, with deliberate attention given to the scientific, fact-based, logic of textual scholarship.

We currently present this teaching at small in-person and online events, but more is needed. While churches eagerly welcome this CSNTM instruction, they struggle to attract attendees from other Christian communities and even the general public. They simply lack the funds to promote broadly, and it appears potential attendees prefer a venue they perceive as a neutral ground.

CSNTM proposes to host larger, in-person events called “The Biblion Conference” in venues around the United States. This 2-day gathering will present the content of the lecture series in plenary sessions featuring high-profile guest presenters and in breakout sessions. The conference will include a display area for vendors.

The tone of the conference is intended to be both educational and celebratory, with deliberate attention given to the scientific, fact-based, logic of textual scholarship proving the reliability of the New Testament text. The conference will honor the generations of faithful men and women who preserved the New Testament text for 2,000 years, sometimes upon the pain of death. The gathering will also seek to build greater confidence in the gift of the New Testament text while giving glory to God for its preservation by the agency of humanity despite the fallibility of humanity.
